Libertarians would solve Toronto’s trash problem with a simple solution: Allow private garbage collection and end the monopoly. This works in the former municipality of Etobicoke and the six municipalities surrounding Toronto. In 2007 the Ontario Waste Management Association advised Toronto City Council that they could save at least $10 million per year, and possibly as much as $30 million a year by contracting out Toronto’s residential waste collection! No National Securities Regulator (January 16, 2009)
Both the Ontario and Federal governments have prepared reports that support the establishment of a national securities regulator.  The Ontario Libertarian Party believes that this is an unnecessary and potentially dangerous power grab by the Federal Government, which will harm and upset the smooth functioning of Canada’s securities markets. Proposed Keg Registry is a Strange Brew (January 6, 2007)
More than one Ontario police agency is calling for the establishment of a provincial beer keg registry in a bid to crack down on "out-of-control" parties near postsecondary school campuses. The Ontario Libertarian Party opposes the establishment of a government beer keg registry on the grounds that it constitutes a gross violation of the right to privacy, and will cost the taxpayer or consumer extra money in order to fund the registry. Libertarians Declare "Clean Water" Act a Dirty Trick (July 26, 2006)
The Ontario Libertarian Party considers Bill 43, the "Clean Water" Act, to be a serious threat to property rights and simple justice, and insists that it be withdrawn. This Bill is a sledgehammer "solution" to a mosquito problem and will create more problems if it is enacted. It is clear that this Bill is an attempt by the government to gain centralized control over private land.  Read more.

 Ontario MPP Peter Kormos has introduced Bill 61, which seeks to amend the Trillium Gift of Life Network Act in order to allow "presumed consent" for organ donations. The Ontario Libertarian Party rejects Bill 61 as a shameful violation of personal freedom and self-ownership. Read more.

Libertarian Party Denounces Government Monopolies and Blackmail by Canadian Union of Public Employees  (February 12, 2006)
Members of CUPE are threatening to go on strike over pension reforms contained in Bill 206. Sid Ryan, president of CUPE Ontario, went so far as to declare that "We're not talking about some little one-day political strike. The schools won't open, my members won't let anyone in and it's the same for municipal buildings." Read more.
