The Beaches Libertarian Association holds monthly meetings at 7:00 p.m. the second Thursday of every month. President Robert Morse reports on the July 13 meeting:
A lively discussion of Libertarianism and Objectivism, led by Mark Scott, made our latest meeting one of the best yet. David Levy then turned to more practical matters and filled us in on Keith Maher's one-man struggle against the CRTC.
A fresh look at the libertarian doctrine of self-reliance was provided by special guest Brad Allen. Brad is in a wheelchair but that did not stop him from running as an independent candidate in the latest provincial election. Sam Apelbaum reminded us that in a Libertarian system Brad's high-tech wheelchair would have been invented many years earlier.
The August 10 meeting, which had Leader George Dance attending, was devoted to the practical matter of producing a concise one-page outreach flyer on the party, which could be easily carried and handed out by members during casual conversation on the party, etc. Two copies of the flyer are enclosed with this Bulletin; all members are encouraged to copy and use them.
The date of the next two Beaches meetings are Sept. 14 and Oct. 12. The meetings are usually held at Centre 55 (97 Main street, just south of Gerrard), but please call (416) 699-5760 to confirm.
